Life is full of countless small paths, each offering us the opportunity to shape our own story. It’s true that we move forward more easily when accompanied by a guide. No matter the pace at which we move, we will always, in our own time, find ourselves on the path that is truly ours.
"Success has no summit; it is the direction we take."
Since childhood, I have seen my father as the embodiment of wisdom, the perfection of BEING. His words resonated with such profound wisdom that they simplified obstacles, transforming the insurmountable into a mere shift in perspective, as if everything suddenly made sense in just a single phrase. How did he do it? He changed my perception. Everything we experience is an experiment; nothing has intrinsic value because its worth depends on the energy we assign it. By simply shifting our perspective, we can dissolve many barriers. It is in these moments that we can create beautiful things.
One memory stands out among many: at age 16, while preparing to take the Young Firefighter exam, I faced the daunting task of rope climbing. A week before, I was still unable to do it. People told me it would be challenging because I was small and very thin, and when I tried, I realized it was indeed going to be tough.
My father looked at me as if he already knew I would succeed. He didn’t say much, but his reassuring look said it all. He borrowed a rope from a gym, and we hung it from a beam outside our house.
He said, “It’s simple: you just need to swing your legs, and when they rise, grab the rope higher up.” With a little practice, I quickly improved, climbing higher and higher. On the day of the firefighter exam, I scored 16 out of 20.
My father showed me, through his calm demeanor and simple words, that conveying confidence can transform obstacles. Knowing his journey, receiving his confidence encouraged me to believe that a difficult challenge could be overcome. There’s no need to push someone to the limit to help them succeed, just guide them so they can find within themselves the motivation to rise above that illusory wall of fear. Thinking there is only one way to succeed is a mistake; there are as many paths as there are individuals.
My father has always had a way of thinking beyond the conditioning we are taught. False beliefs separate us from our essential selves and thus from our full potential. His life proves that we can create great things.
There are no weak people; this is a completely mistaken notion of humanity. We experiment, we learn, and we move forward.
